Part three of the first chapter... Things are getting interesting. 🙂
Month: June 2014
Sleepless Nights
At night the monsters come out. They lurk in dark cupboards or moving shadows. If you switch on the light they retreat and you are left huddled in the middle of your bed, too scared to move. I don't know when the monster under the bed became such a problem with me... But even now… Continue reading Sleepless Nights
Landing
Part two of Chapter One of ‘The Gone’. Enjoy. 🙂
“Ma’am,” a soft voice says. I am being gently shaken. Cracking open an eyelid I see that one of the flight attendants is leaning over me, a concerned frown on her face.
“Yes?”
“We have landed.”
I smile and then realise that the rest of the plane is quiet. There is no one else left.
“I am sorry,” I say.
“Not to worry. You were out for the count.”
I nod and stand straightening my grey pencil skirt. “It’s been a long couple of days.” I reach up and grab my bag and jacket. Ineffectually I run a hand down my blouse, but the dusty pink shirt looks like I slept in it. Which I have, but I do wish that I’d worn something that didn’t look quite so rumpled.
“What’s the time?” I ask.
The woman looks at me with a sort of blank expression. Then it is as…

To see too much
I have a condition with my eyes that means the sun is just a little brighter and colours just a little sharper. It used to show in my art. People would look at the picture and say - where is that blue? I'd point and say - right there. They'd just smile and pat me… Continue reading To see too much
Hard seats and warm drinks
Here it is… Part one of Chapter one of ‘The Gone’. Enjoy. 🙂
“Are we there yet?”
I wince from the constant barrage of children’s screams and cries. I do understand that families have to go on holiday, but why do they insist on taking the red-eye plane? I’d even asked the woman next to me.
“Why the red-eye with kids?”
She had glared at me. “It’s cheaper.”
I had mumbled something and turned away. Since then she hadn’t even acknowledged my existence, despite the fact she sat next to me. No, actually that was wrong, a couple of elbows timed to stutter across my ribs suggested that she knew I was there, and she was choosing to remind me that in a few words I had been able to make her hate me. It’s a gift that I have and that I use without realising it. Honestly, I am an easy going woman who likes to get on with people. It’s just…

A change…
I have two computers. A laptop and a desktop. The laptop comes with me everywhere and the desktop sits in the study. The old study. Before we built the workshop I worked out of the box room in the house. It was a little cramped. And a little cold, but it was all I had.… Continue reading A change…
I have an idea…
Basically I want to write a serialized story, told from one person's point of view. Kind of like '24' but in a blog format. Once it's finished I'll publish it. The blog would be updated once a week or more and would tell a fictional story in real time. A disaster story. I don't have… Continue reading I have an idea…
Trying to face my fears…
I am trying... It is hard. The worst of my fears is success. I have always been afraid of it. In fact, in the past I could even say I have sabotaged my own work in order not to succeed. Maybe it's the Aspergers... Or maybe it is just fear, plain and simple. I hate… Continue reading Trying to face my fears…
#Lucky 7’s Game
I have been tagged on Facebook to post an extract from page 77, 7 lines down in my book... So here it is. From 'Love Just Is': There was no sense in arguing. It was at this point that I showed an aggression that I felt bad about afterwards. I opened my hand and the… Continue reading #Lucky 7’s Game
