So, the build has been progressing, but an awful lot has looked the same except for a bit of piping. But the real infrastructure has been going in. Now we have our floor level and all the drainage in. It is all pretty amazing. Next week the walls start to go in. I can't wait!… Continue reading Mud is gone, hello concrete

Optical illusions and designing
Well - we have the block foundations in and the insulation has just arrived. Things are moving as fast as ever and we are realising how big the extension is. It is a strange thing, to go from a plan to a physical thing. We are a mess but the foundations are going in. So,… Continue reading Optical illusions and designing
Blocks
Not mental blocks or writing blocks but real blocks. They have arrived so the foundations are going in... So exciting! Can't believe that the pile of blocks will become our extension...
Autism – who has to change?
So, I have just read an article by Stephen Fontenot in UTD Today discussing whether you can reduce biases by educating people about autism. Three groups of people were used. One group was shown a video about autism and how to socially interact with them. Another group had training about mental disability but autism wasn't… Continue reading Autism – who has to change?
Concrete and mud
Well, I am managing better. We have the first pour of the foundations and everything is moving a might quicker than expected... They are thinking at the moment of finishing one or two weeks early. Wow! Picking up the back garden... Foundations going in. Well, there we are then. The garage is being studded and… Continue reading Concrete and mud
And that is the foundations
Don't get me wrong, there is a way to go. But it has started... I'll blog again once there is more to see rather than mud and a hole... But we are getting there.
Spoons, Building and Masking
Yesterday I got overwhelmed. Badly. I mean a good 4 hour meltdown. My autistic self was a mess. There was no writing done. There was no drawing done. There was just me and my head in an endless circle of pain... For four hours. My fella and carer was brilliant but I am mad at… Continue reading Spoons, Building and Masking
Week one completed
There we are then... That is the first week of the build done. We have gone from having a conservatory, to not having one, and the conversion on the garage has started. Getting ready to brick up them holes And it begins... All done then... There we are then. New door in place. Now it… Continue reading Week one completed
What a view…
The build has finished its demolition and moved onto the building. Until the foundations are in, it is all concentrated around the garage. "Can we cut the door and window?" the builders asked. "Sure..." we said a little tentatively as it would need a lot of stuff moving and out storage wouldn't be ready until… Continue reading What a view…
There is was gone…
Goodness the builders work fast. The foundations to the conservatory are being removed as I type (a very large and loud jack-hammer) and later today there should be new holes in the garage for the new window and door. Everything is moving along at a great click. In other news - I'm anaemic, quite badly.… Continue reading There is was gone…
