Why I’m D
If you look at my art work you won't find a signature... Nothing but a letter. D Why a D? Well, my nephew is only two and he can't say Kate. Instead he calls me Dee. So I sign all my artwork D. I suppose it is my pet name. And my very first nickname.
The lady with the plasters
I should never have gone to university. It wasn't that I was too young, I'd done a BTEC and was a year older than most. But inside I was so young and naive. I didn't know at the time but I had some mental issues that made me particularly vulnerable to predators and attack. Attack… Continue reading The lady with the plasters
Taking a big bite
I have a feeling I have bitten off more than I can chew... I have decided to go for the Mall Galleries National Portrait Competition. I don't expect to get anywhere near the winner but to just be selected would be great. Only problem is that it closes on the 13th of February... Wish me… Continue reading Taking a big bite

Today’s illustration…

A stranger stared back at me.

At school I'd slowly moved closer and closer to the chalk board in class. It helped that mine was… Continue reading A stranger stared back at me.
The business of writing
Have you ever been to a business seminar? The kind where the chairs are in a circle and you have to discuss your goals? I have. Not for the writing, but for the manufacture of soft toys. At the time I had already realised that business was a strange beast and one I didn't understand.… Continue reading The business of writing
Inside left blank for your own message
I’d snuck around school, dropping flyers into bags. I’d even left my name off. Please come to …. birthday party. I didn’t fill it in. I had no wish to. For once I wanted to have a party that everyone went to. A couple of people caught me.“What’s that?” they said.“An invitation.”“To what?”“A party.”“Whose?”I stayed… Continue reading Inside left blank for your own message
