3 am
Well, there we are then. Due to a flare in one of my conditions I am anaemic
and with anaemia comes insomnia. Hence the fact I am sat at 3 am watching a
horror and wondering if I ought to take an extra painkiller because my legs are
restless.
Restless leg is a symptom of anaemia, basically the long bones make most of
your blood. So, when you become iron deficient due to blood loss your long
bones can ache because of the work they are doing. This makes your legs twitch
and ache.
Add to that I can hear my heartbeat (another anaemia thing) and I am not
sleeping great at all. It won’t last long, but for the next few days things
will be a little rough, but I’ll be fine in the long term. I just got to wait
this bit out.
Wish me luck though as it is now 4am and sleep is no quicker at finding me.
The trick is not to panic though. The trick is to simply let it ride and smile. Nap when you can and keep yourself as healthy as possible. Oh, and the hardest for me – rest and don’t do too much. I’m particularly poor at doing that, especially when I feel I have so many jobs to do…
Dear Kate, I’m so very shocked and sorry to hear about Roland. I was thinking what to write yesterday and decided to do it this morning and then seeing you awake at 3 and I’m sure it’s not just restless leg. I hope you are okay. You did have a very good relationship and many people don’t get that so at least you have good memories but to lose your future is so hard that my heart reaches out to you.
I hope you can manage to settle and find yourself again,
Jeni
I am sure I can. I just need to take small steps. x
