Resilience and that drip

What is the last thing you learned?

You never stop learning. The main thing I have learnt lately is just how resilient R and I are. We have learnt patience, and how to smile and laugh, despite the fact that everything is going wrong around you.

So we went to bed a bit late last night, though we have a film crew turning up to look at the build and how much Landry has screwed up. Of course, our beautiful house decided it was the star of the show and, at stupid o’clock, we were woken by a huge bang that jolted the house. Despite the fact that the leaks have been less visible, a section of the extension ceiling had fallen into a small lake on the floor. We sent some pics to the production company and they said “Please leave it as it is, if you can”. It’s really messing with my head. I am itching to sort it out and clean up the water, but I am resisting.

The thing is, there was no yelling or screaming. I just told R that the ceiling had collapsed and we both stood there and looked at the mess that is the garden room.

“Plants are watered,” I said.

R grinned, “Oh, aye”!

After the filming, we will fix that ceiling. It isn’t big. We can plasterboard and DIY, because we watched the builder and if he can do it… We now know how to sort stuff out and, apart from getting in a plasterer, it isn’t a bother. My parents mentioned insurance but we remembered there’s a massive excess until Building Control sign us off. It might not be worth it.
