July 26, 2016July 26, 2016 KateLeave a comment

I'm doing the edits for Tunnels and as I do I am read exerts... Bits of my writing. So far just doing the edits has made me cry and laugh. How is that possible? To give you a sneak peak I am going to pop the first chapter below. This is a children's book for… Continue reading Tunnels… A kid’s novel

Yep... I did it. Finally finished the digital painting... It took nine and a half hours. And I loved it so much that I have uploaded to Society 6 and Zippi (the UK version of Society 6). Have a look-see. I love the mugs. 'Here Be Dragons' is awaiting a proof and that one will… Continue reading Finished

I have started to illustrate one of the three childrens books that I have written. Oddly, each was for a competition and all got to 'almost' stage and then fell to the wayside. So I thought - why not publish them...? The first is with the editor at the moment and she is hacking it… Continue reading Illustrating

Irrational Fear

May 20, 2014 Kate2 Comments

The other day I went to the Firefly launch (Firefly is a Welsh publisher of children's books). There were a load of good readings and I got chatting after. One of the editors asked me... "Do you illustrate your own books?" "No," I said, but what got me was that I was filled with fear.… Continue reading Irrational Fear

Dissertation 6

August 22, 2013August 22, 2013 Kate2 Comments

I am studying children's writing for the critical essay and something comes up in one of my workshops. Are some of the subjects too adult for the age range? I start to look. What subjects are taboo? And I have found the answer - none. You can write about anything for children, it's the way… Continue reading Dissertation 6

Two Identities

June 15, 2013 KateLeave a comment

I write in two different ways and I am confused as to whether to pursue one or the other, or both. This blog is my serious side but I also write for children and am in the process of being published. I am also thinking of a series of middle grade books based in Wales.… Continue reading Two Identities
