A rain storm

We have had a rainstorm… The heavens opened and it hit the roof…

If you follow my blog you will know that the builder has not been working on our build. We started the extension in February 2021 and, well, it is still not finished. He put a plastic sheet over one of the roofs. We went through last winter without a proper roof. Basically the extension has been leaking since summer last year.

But three weeks ago the roofers he had booked in didn’t turn up. So, he decided to put it on himself. Has he done a great job? No, not really. It is a bit of a mess but when the rain storm just moved over and the rain thumped down on the house, we had no leaks.

We still have plastic on a couple of skylights but the main leak appears to have stopped. The leak that needed five buckets and has left the ceiling stained brown in places, has stopped. I mean the roof and ceiling will probably need a couple of months to dry out, but we have no leaks (of course I’m not holding my breath).

I’m not relaxed as such as I keep expecting the leaks to happen. But for the moment we are leak free and I have started to sleep through the night. I got everything crossed that it doesn’t leak.

But…

With this guy there is always a but. He has been missing the last two days. If anyone sees a builder that looks lost please direct him to our house… We need the roof finishing now.
