I’m writing ‘The Gone‘ but my main character has just decided to do something I hadn’t planned for. She got on a helicopter and took a shortcut to the WHO center in Cardiff.
Normally this wouldn’t be a problem but I haven’t even decided who the characters are in the WHO. Are they human? Are they altered? Are they zombies?
Okay, maybe I ought to mention that the book is a dystopian novel set in the present with vampire/zombie-type creatures.
Anyway, my main character, Bitsy, has thrown me for a loop. So I’m going to have to sit down with a pad and plan out this next but… If I can work it out.
It’s frustrating when characters throw us for a loop, but I do think it’s for the better in the long run. I hope you get everything straightened out!
It really is… But you are right. It normally helps the storyline. 🙂
The characters know best!
They do – and can be very loud about it…
Oops hahaha.
Well you do have the option of buying yourself some time. Presumably if this centre was still active it would be heavily guarded, perhaps they land early to make the approach on foot? Although I suppose that causes problems of its own which could buy you some time before they actually make it in. Technically there hasn’t really been a plan discussed as to what they are going to do when they reach the place.
It would be good to see some more humans. I get the impression that the razor speech others aren’t about to go looking at what is happening and why… they don’t seem the researchy type. So if no humans hopefully they left behind enough data or something to help them out.
Maybe think about what you want the characters to get out of the WHO centre, that might help you ascertain what characters have to be there.
Yeah… I was thinking of throwing a handful of humans and giving the characters a mix. It’s getting interesting. 🙂
You’ve also got two new-ish characters to explore and the whole idea of relationship connections 🙂
I’m interested to see if Colin and Aaron are as protective of each other as Max and Bitsy are 🙂
Mmmm… they might be. 🙂
