Words in a day

I have taken up the challenge to produce a piece of creative writing a day… So begins my ‘Words a day‘ challenge…

and yes I am already behind… Oops! Still below is the challenge for the 1st Jan 2013. The word is the title of the piece, this is a 100 word short story.

A Fresh Start

A fresh start is like a clean scent or a sea view; you can smell it and feel it. Every morning in the summer it just happens around me as the daisy’s open slowly to reveal a honey yellow centre and the birds sing out their disputes. Or perhaps in the height of summer, just before a summer shower and after the grass is cut. But this morning my fresh start came from a clean smell of a freshly washed face cloth and a shot of cold air running in from an open window as I greeted the New Year.

  1. My writing teacher made us write every day. He believed it was like learning to perfect any other skill, you had to practice. I struggled so, even when he gave us prompts. Guess that’s where talent steps up and takes over. I swear, some students just oozed creativity. I always felt like I was dragging an anchor behind me. I like your stories and look forward to seeing what your challenge produces!
